CBP Completes SPI "A" GSP Refund Process, Except for "Failed" Entries

January 24, 2012

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), refunds have been issued for all automatic refund requests for entries filed between January 1, 2011 and November 4, 2011, using the Special Program Indicator (SPI) “A,” except for those that failed the refund process. Most entries that failed the SPI “A” refund process were either the subject of reconciliation or drawback. CBP is sending these “failed” entries to the ports where they were made to be manually processed. CBP aims to complete the refund process for these “failed” entries by mid-March, 2012.

Filers using the Automated Broker Interface (ABI) without an SPI “A” and those who filed non-ABI entries have until April 18, 2012, to submit requests for retroactive GSP duty refunds.
