CPSC Releases Requirements for Children's Toys Testing Sites

March 12, 2013

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently released requirements for “third party conformity assessment bodies” that test children’s products.  Under the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA), manufacturers of children’s products must issue a certificate that confirms a third party testing site has determined that the product meets CPSA guidelines.   In its final rule, CPSC outlines the procedures for testing labs to use, as well as adverse actions that CSPS may impose against the sites.  The final rule applies to all goods manufactured on or after June 10, 2013, the day the rule goes into effect.
