U.S. Global Solutions Aims to Increase Small-Business Exports

April 10, 2013

Six federal agencies will participate in an interagency initiative designed to enlarge the U.S. exporter base through expanded export assistance.  Announced April 3, 2013, U.S. Global Solutions will integrate U.S. government trade finance services offered by various agencies into one platform, making the resources more accessible to small business exporters.

Ex-Im Bank Chairman and President Fred Hochberg released a comment on the initiative, stating that although “global demand for ‘made in the USA’ products and services is strong,” many small business are deterred by perceived risks or lack knowledge of the opportunities.

The initiative aims to increase the exporter base by adding 50,000 small businesses by 2017.  See below for a list of the participating federal agencies.  The following agencies are participating: Export-Import Bank, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce/International Trade Administration, U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), and Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
