BRC Partner Quoted on Threaded Rod Antidumping Investigation

July 26, 2013

Barnes Richardson partner Matthew McGrath was quoted by American Metal Market in an article on the recently initiated antidumping and countervailing duty investigation of steel threaded rod from India and Thailand.  McGrath noted that the firm’s clients – importers and US distributors of threaded rod and fastener products – will not be able to obtain sufficient quantities of certain products, such as small diameter rod and hot dip galvanized rod, if high remedial duties impair imports.  The US International Trade Commission will rule preliminarily on whether imports materially injure the US industry, and the Department of Commerce will later rule whether the subject imports are dumped and/or subsidized.  Barnes Richardson also represents Indian manufacturers in opposing the petition.
