FDA Announces Secure Supply Chain Pilot Program

August 20, 2013

On August 20, 2013, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced it would begin a Secure Supply Chain Pilot Program (SSCPP) that allows the opportunity for expedited entry of certain finished drugs products and active pharmaceutical ingredients.  The SSCPP will include no more than 100 applicants and will span from February 2014 until February 2016.  The FDA hopes the pilot will aid in its efforts to use the majority of its resources on riskier imported drugs that fall outside of SSCPP.  Interested parties can apply from September 16 until December 13 of this year by filling out Form FDA 3676 and following other directions listed in the Federal Register notice.
