Senate Finance Committee Approves ITC Nominee

On Friday, December 13, 2013, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee approved Rhonda Schnare Schmidtlein as Commissioner at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).  Schmidtlein was nominated by President Obama in July, 2013, and her nomination was considered at a hearing held on November 20th, 2013.  Schmidtlein will replace Commissioner Shara L. Aranoff, whose term expired in 2010.  

Before her appointment to the ITC, Schmidtlein worked as a consultant to the World Bank.  Schmidtlein also worked at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), served as an associate general counsel for the U.S. Trade Representative, and worked for the Department of Justice.   Additionally, she was also a professor at the George Washington University Law School.  Ms. Schmidtlein holds a B.S. from the University of Missouri and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina.
