BRC Partner Quoted in Korean Orange Juice Investigation

March 3, 2014

Barnes Richardson partner Matthew McGrath was quoted by the Orlando Sentinal on the current investigation by the Korean Customs Service into the originating status of frozen concentrated orange juice exported from the US duty free under the US-Korea Free Trade Agreement.  Korea has been challenging the product's legal status for the past year, while Florida exporters have been providing extensive documentation to prove the product is 100% US origin.  Significant past tariff assessments have been threatened.  Barnes Richardson represents the growers’ association and has been advising the affected processor/exporters on the Korean investigation, working with USDA, USTR, and Congressional representatives to seek an early resolution.
