The House is scheduled to consider a bill extending the Andean Trade Promotion Act/ Andean trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPA/ATPDEA), as well as certain Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) provisions on February 8, 2011. The proposed bill would extend ATPA/ATPDEA and certain TAA provisions through June 30, 2011. Without an extension, the two programs will expire February 12, 2011. The proposed bill does not address renewing the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), which expired for most beneficiary countries on December 31, 2010.
