Government Reorganization Effort to Start with Trade and Exports

During his January 25, 2011 State of the Union address, President Obama announced plans to reorganize and consolidate federal agencies with the aim of improving U.S. competitiveness. The President has assigned this task to Jeffrey Zients, Chief Performance Officer (CPO). According to a January 30, 2011 post on the White House Blog, the Administration’s government reorganization efforts will start with trade and exports. The Administration’s reform efforts are aimed at aligning resources to help negotiate the best agreements, enforce trade rights, and support exporters, thereby giving American companies a leg up in the global economy.
