CBP to Require Use of New Entry Summary Form 7501 on April 1, 2010

March 12, 2010

Beginning April 1, 2010, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will require the use of the new version of CBP Form 7501 for entry summaries. After that date, entry summaries filed with a form other than the June 2009 version will be rejected.

The new form, which does not contain in substantial changes compared to the previous version of the form (April 2005), was necessitated by the mandatory Office of Management and Budget review according to CBP sources. Two differences in the new form include the new version’s date (which appears at the bottom right corner) and the addition of the March 31, 2012 expiration date (appearing at the top right corner).

CBP noted that some in the importer community are still using versions of the form dated earlier than April 2005. The new form is available here.
