FDA Delays Rollout of New Import Screening System by Another Month

November 23, 2009

Recently, a FDA official announced an additional one-month delay in the rollout of Agency’s new import screening system, PREDICT (Predictive Risk-based Evaluation for Dynamic Import Compliance Targeting). The related ITACS (Import Trade Auxiliary Communications System) is also delayed for an unspecified amount of time according to the official.

The nation-wide rollout of PREDICT was initially scheduled for September 2009 and subsequently delayed until December. The rollout is now expected to begin in early January and will occur one district at a time.

PREDICT will replace the FDA’s current OASIS import screaming system with a rule-based system that assesses information from multiple sources and determine which shipments carry the highest risk. To read more about the new system, click
