Jeffrey Gerrish Is Rumored Nominee for Deputy USTR

According to an Inside U.S. Trade article, Jeffrey Gerrish, a former attorney at Skadden Arps, is likely to be nominated to serve as Deputy USTR. He is a former colleague of both Ambassador Lighthizer and Stephen Vaughn, USTR General Counsel.

Gerrish’s trade litigation credentials are extensive. One area of notable concentration for Lighthizer, Vaughan, and now Gerrish’s former firm was the representation of U.S. steel producers in international trade disputes. If appointed, it is likely that his advocacy efforts would emphasize domestic industry, particularly steel manufacturing.
