Country-of-Origin Labeling for Motor Fuels

June 15, 2011

On June 1, 2011, Representative Brady (D-IA) introduced H.R. 2073, the Country-of-Origin Labeling for Fuels Act. The bill would require the Secretary of Energy to implement country-of-origin disclosure requirements with respect to motor vehicle fuels, as well as for other purposes. Both fossil fuels and alternatives are included in the legislation. The country-of-origin labeling requirement would include every foreign country in which the motor vehicle fuel, or components of such fuel, were extracted, refined, or otherwise processed.
