FDA Updates Japan Import Alert to Include Tea Leaves

On June 15, 2011, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revised its Import Alert on Japanese Imports (Import Alert #99-33). The FDA added tea leaves from the Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures to the list of products from Japan subject to refusal of admission into the United States. This update follows the Japanese Government’s decision to restrict tea leaves from distribution on June 2, 2011.
