History

Barnes/Richardson was founded in New York City in 1919 by Albert MacC. Barnes, who was a former Appraiser of Merchandise at the Port of New York. Samuel Richardson was a former Solicitor of Customs at New York and J. Bradley Colburn was General Counsel at the U.S. Tariff Commission, predecessor to the U.S. International Trade Commission. The Firm expanded to Chicago in 1948 and Washington, D.C. in 1956.
