WTO Approves Membership for Montenegro and Samoa

December 20, 2011

On December 17, 2011, the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministers adopted Samoa’s and Montenegro’s terms of entry, thereby approving their WTO membership. Montenegro has until March 31, 2012, to ratify its accession package, while Samoa has until June 15, 2012 to complete ratification. Each country will become a WTO member thirty days after notifying the WTO of ratification. WTO acceptance of Samoa and Montenegro follows one day after the WTO accepted Russia’s membership bid.
