CBP Amends ATPA/ATPDEA Memo

On January 23, 2012, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced an amendment to its October 24, 2011, memorandum regarding the retroactive renewal of the Andean Trade Preference Act (ATPA) and the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA) programs (CSMS #12-000018). CBP confirmed that the benefits conferred upon goods entered or eligible to be entered with special program indicator (SPI) “J” and “J+” apply to goods entered or eligible to be entered with SPI “J*” and HTSUS number 9821. HTSUS 9821 covers goods eligible for special ATPDEA benefits.
