On September 11, 2012, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) announced that Meredith Broadbent, a Republican from Virginia, has been sworn in as an ITC Commissioner for a term expiring on June 16, 2017. Commissioner Broadbent replaces Commissioner Deanna Tanner Okun as a member of the ITC. President Obama nominated Broadbent on November 8, 2011 and the Senate confirmed her on August 2, 2012.

Prior to her appointment, Broadbent held the William M. Scholl Chair in International Business at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Broadbent has also served as a senior professional staff member on the Republican staff of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Ways and Means, and as professional staff for the house Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee. In these positions, Broadbent was involved in the development and passage of the implementing bills for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Uruguay Round Agreements, as well as the drafting of portions of the Trade and Development Act of 2000, legislation to authorize normal trade relations with China, and the Trade Act of 2002.
