CBP Opens CEE for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Minerals

On September 17, 2012, U.S. Customs and Border Protection opened the Petroleum, Natural Gas and Minerals Center of Excellence and Expertise in Houston, Texas. The CEE has already begun centralized processing for trusted partners in the Petroleum, Natural Gas and Minerals industries. According to CBP, the CEE offers a one-stop processing to lower the Trade’s cost of business, provide greater consistency and predictability, and enhance CBP enforcement efforts. Center personnel will be expected to answer questions, provide information and develop trade facilitation strategies to address uniformity and compliance concerns. The CEE will also provide a single point of processing for businesses enrolled in CBP’s trusted shipper programs.

CBP has previously established CEEs for Pharmaceuticals, Electronics, and the Auto/Aerospace industries.
