Obama Names Nominees to Lead USTR, Commerce

On May 2, 2013, President Obama announced his nominees for U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and Commerce Secretary. Obama selected Michael Froman, his White House Deputy National Security Adviser for International Economic Affairs, to serve as USTR, and businesswoman Penny Pritzker to lead the Department of Commerce. Ambassador Ron Kirk recently resigned as USTR after spending four years leading the agency. The post of Commerce Secretary has been vacant since Secretary Bryson resigned amidst health problems in June 2012.
