FDA Extends Comment Period on Two Proposed FSMA Rules

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently extended the comment period for two of the agency’s rules proposed under the authority of the 2011 Food and Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).  Comments concerning the draft methodological approach to identifying high risk foods, published in the Federal Register on February 4, 2014, are now due on May 22, 2014, and comments on “Forward Mitigation Strategies to Protect Food Against Intentional Adulteration,” published on December 24, 2013, are due on June 30, 2014.

Comments on either of the above mentioned rules can either be submitted electronically at www.regulations.gov or sent to the Division of Dockets Management, FDA, 5630 Fishers Lane, rm. 1061, Rockville, MD 20852.
