U.S. Begins Process to Open Markets to Chicken Slaughtered in China

March 4 – The Obama administration published a report on a recent inspection of Chinese poultry slaughtering industries which determined that Chinese food safety measure meet U.S. requirements.

This recent report could lay the groundwork for the subsequent opening of U.S. markets to all poultry slaughtered in China; critics of such measures argue that they are motivated more by U.S. desires for similar access to Chinese markets for beef producers than by domestic health concerns.
