Mexicon and Canada's Panel Request Against U.S. Granted, U.S. Granted Panel Against Broiler Chicken Duties


June 22, 2016 – At the WTO Dispute Settlement Body meeting, Canada and Mexico sought panels to challenge the United States’ countervailing duties against supercalendered paper and its tuna labelling regulations, respectively. The U.S. is currently seeking its own panel to challenge a 2014 Chinese AD/CVD redetermination against broiler chicken products.

Canada made its request on the grounds that CVD duties applied by the U.S. against supercalendered paper violated the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (ASCM) and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
