Treasury Amends Iranian Sanctions to Ban Imports of Foodstuffs & Carpets

The U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has issued a final ruleamending it Iranian Transactions Regulations to remove general licenses authorizing the importation, and dealings in, certain foodstuffs, carpets, and related services from Iran. The final rule, effective September 29, 2010, also implements section 103 of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010 by prohibiting the direct or indirect importation of goods or services of Iranian origin and the exportation of U.S. origin goods, services or technology from the U.S. or a U.S. person, wherever located to Iran.
