BRC Secures Continuation of AD Order on Italian Packaging Tape

February 26, 2010

Barnes Richardson and Colburn, on behalf of its clients, 3M Company, Intertape Polymer Group, and Shurtape, successfully convinced the U.S. government to maintain the antidumping order covering imports of packaging tape from Italy.  The order was originally imposed in 1977 and remains one of the oldest antidumping orders still in effect.

On February 26, 2010, the Commission held that the revocation of the antidumping order on Pressure Sensitive Plastic Tape from Italy would lead to the recurrence of material injury to U.S. producers.  This follows the determination by the U.S. Department of Commerce that revocation of the orders would lead to the continuation or recurrence of dumping in the U.S. market by Italian exporters.   As a result of the decisions by the ITC and DOC, the U.S. industry will continue to receive protection from dumped Italian imports for at least another 5 years.
