Aluminum Licensing Indefinitely Delayed

Mar. 29, 2021
By: David G. Forgue

On December 23, 2020 the Department of Commerce published a final rule requiring that imports of aluminum be licensed. In January 2021 the implementation of the requirement was postponed to March 29, 2021. The Department of Commerce has now indicated that aluminum licensing will not be required for imports from March 29, 2021. Interestingly, Commerce did not indicate when, if ever, the aluminum licensing requirement will be implemented.
