Rep. John Fleming Introduces Legislation Amending Lacey Act

Congressman John Fleming (R-LA) recently introduced legislation in the House that would reduce restrictions on imports of plants and plant products that fall under the jurisdiction of the Lacey Act.  H.R. 3280, the “Lacey Act Clarifying Amendments Act of 2013”, includes provisions which exempt plants or animal products imported before May 22, 2008 or products manufactured before May 22, 2008.  The legislation is co-sponsored by Congressman Glenn Thompson (R-PA), and has been referred to the Committee on Natural Resources.
