Antidumping Duty ITA Docket No. 2235 was filed on March 7, 2002, for Silicon Metal from the Russian Federation. The dumping margin estimated by petitioners during the POI is 326.13%.
DESCRIPTION OF MERCHANDISE
Merchandise included in this petition is defined as all forms and sizes of silicon metal from Russia. Silicon metal normally contains a minimum of 96% percent but not more than 99.99% silicon by weight. In addition, the petition includes silicon metal from Russia that contains 89%-96% silicon by weight, but containing more aluminum than silicon within these percentages.
The silicon metal that is the subject of this petition is primarily used as an alloying agent in aluminum production. Silicon is a necessary agent in casting alloys. The chemical industry uses silicon metal for producing silanes, fluids which produce silicone resins, lubricants, plastomers, anti-foaming agents and water-repellant compounds.
Silicon metal entering under the following HTS items are included in the petition: 2804.69.10 and 2804.69.50. In addition, this petition covers all silicon metal meeting the above criteria.
