Cameron Kerry to Serve as Acting Commerce Secretary

Beginning June 1, 2013, Cameron Kerry will serve as the Department of Commerce’s Acting Secretary. Acting Secretary Rebecca Blank, who has been leading the Agency since Secretary Bryson resigned last June, will be leaving to take the role of Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Kerry has worked at the Department of Commerce since 2009 and currently serves as general counsel. President Obama’s nominee for Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker, is awaiting Congressional confirmation.
