C-TPAT Applications to be Made On-Line

The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (“Customs”) has posted new Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism application instructions, and is requiring that all application information be submitted online. Separate application instructions have been posted on Customs’ website for Carriers (Air, Highway, Rail and Sea), Terminal Operators, Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (“NVOCCs”), Foreign Manufacturers, Licensed Brokers and Importers. Note, the online application requirements for importers took effect in February/March 2005.
According to Customs’ website, applicants (other than importers) who applied prior to posting of these online application instructions should continue to submit their C-TPAT information via email to industry.partnership@dhs.gov. Customs’ sources state that Customs’ will reject C-TPAT applications that are not submitted online effective approximately
