President's Trade Authority to be Investigated by ITC

April 13, 2018

The International Trade Commission (ITC) instituted an investigation into the President's request for an extension of his trade promotion authority.

Under the Bipartisan Trade Act of 2015 (BTA), the ITC must review all implemented trade agreements between BTA's enactment date and that of the presidential notice.  According to the agency's official press release, no trade agreements were implemented during this timeframe.

A public hearing will not be scheduled, though the ITC is accepting written comments.  Comments must be mailed to the following address by May 2, 2018:

    U.S. International Trade Commission
    500 E. Street, SW
    Washington, DC 20436

The ITC will publish its report by June 1, 2018.
