Do you love the United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement (“USMCA”)? Do you hate it? Do you have any specific thoughts, concerns, or experiences that you’d like to see addressed? Well, September 17 is your lucky day, since that’s when the Office of the United States Trade Representative’s Federal Register notice regarding the 2026 USMCA review is set to publish.
In the notice it indicates that comments and/or requests to appear at a hearing must be filed within 45 days of the notice. That should be about November 1, although until the notice is actually published we won’t know that for sure. In any case, while there has been a tremendous amount of speculation about the Trump administration’s plans for USMCA in this review, there is always a chance that interested parties filing comments will help the USTR understand how policies are working in real time for real businesses. Or, closed mouths don’t get fed.
If you have any thoughts about USMCA the attorneys at Barnes, Richardson & Colburn, LLP are here to help you turn those into comments for the USTR.
