Wyden Takes Helm of Finance Committee

February 14, 2014

On February 12, 2014, the U.S. Senate passed S. Res. 359, confirming Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore) as Chairman of the Committee on Finance.  Wyden replaced previous Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT), who left the Senate to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to China. Following passage of the resolution, the Senator released a statement where he outlined his immediate priorities as Chairman, which included tax reform, Medicare, and affordable health care.  He also touted bipartisanship, saying that he expects it “to continue to guide [his] chairmanship of the Finance Committee.”
