What are the steps that should be taken when an importer disagrees with a Customs decision? How can such decisions be effectively challenged and what must be done to protect an importer’s right to refunds? What needs to take place when a penalty, liquidated damage or seizure notice arrives? How can inadvertent, minor errors and mistakes be corrected? How does the PSC procedure interface with ACE.

Almost all importers and their brokers are occasionally faced with the unpleasant circumstance of receiving unfavorable notices of action, or penalty, liquidated damage or seizure notices. In addition, from time to time even the best compliance program will be make inadvertent errors. This program will address these unfortunate situations and discuss the steps that need to be taken so that an importer’s rights are adequately protected and to make sure that more serious consequences do not result.
