President Signs Extension of ATPDEA with GSP Renewal

On October 16, 2008, President Bush signed into law H.R. 7222, extending U.S. Trade Preference Programs. Under the law, the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) will receive a one year extension through December 2009. The Andean Trade Preference Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA) was also extended through 2009 for Colombia, while the other two beneficiary countries under the program, Bolivia and Ecuador, received only six-month extensions.
