TAA Dispute Blocks Action on FTAs

Republican plans to begin mock mark-ups this week for the three pending Free Trade Agreements have fallen through amidst discord over renewal of Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA). The Obama Administration has informed Congress that it will not send the three FTAs up for votes until a deal has been made to renew TAA at or near the funding level approved in 2009. Action in the House will now be delayed until at least July, as the House is not in session next week.
