CBP to Require Use of New 7501 Form for Entry Summaries by November 3, 2009

August 26, 2009

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced that after November 2, 2009, it will no longer accept versions of CBP Form 7501 dated prior to June 2009. CBP Form 7501 is the entry summary form used by CBP to establish rates of duty on imported goods, record statistical data, and provide a summary of the import transaction by classification and value.

On its website, CBP states that the June 2009 version does not contain any substantial changes compared to previous versions of the form. However, CBP officials have noted that they are especially interested in ensuring that versions of the CBP Form 7501 that are dated before April 2005 are no longer used.
